Cube both sides to get rid of cube-root symbol

\big( \sqrt[3]{8x+6}\big) ^3 = (-3)^3

8x+6 = -27

Subtract 6 from both sides

8x = -33

Divide both sides by 8

x = - \dfrac{33}{8}
