Answer

  1. Let a_n be the general terms

    a_2-a_1 = -12-5 = -17

    a_3-a_2 = -29-(-12)=-17

    a_4-a_3 = -46-(-29) = -17

which shows the series 5, −12, −29, −46 is an arithmetic sequence with common difference -17
